Benton Irrigation District — Maintenance Technician (Irrigation)
Location: Benton City, WA (must live within 30 minutes) | Full-time | Seasonal on-call rotation

Position Summary We are seeking a dependable Maintenance Technician to support installation, repair, and routine maintenance of irrigation infrastructure. This is a hands-on role requiring mechanical skill, physical stamina, and availability for a rotating on-call schedule during the irrigation season.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of pipes, pumps, valves, and related irrigation equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical and equipment issues; perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs
- Operate light and heavy equipment as needed (training provided for specific equipment)
- Respond to emergency calls during assigned on-call rotation, including weekends, throughout irrigation season
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
Required Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude and hands-on maintenance experience
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions
- Valid Washington State driver’s license
- Live within 30 minutes of Benton City for emergency response
- Able to pass background check and pre-employment drug test
- Willingness to obtain Pesticide License within 1 year of employment
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience operating tractors, backhoes, excavators, or other heavy equipment
- Experience with irrigation systems or water management

Notice is hereby given that the assessment roll of the Benton Irrigation District is on file at the district office, 47506 N. Highland Road, Benton City, Washington. The Board of Directors of the Benton Irrigation District will meet on the December 8, 2025, at 8 am at the office of the District, acting as a Board of Equalization to equalize assessments.
The Board will hear and determine dispositions of objections to the assessment roll from now through December 8, 2025, excluding Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Please call our office at 509-588-4396 for an appointment during business hours Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Benton Irrigation District
The Board meeting scheduled for Monday, November 24, 2025, has been changed to Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 8 am.
Due to an order from the Department of Ecology, all non-senior water rights users must shut down on October 6 due to drought conditions. We will be shutting down for the year on October 6.
The water shut-off date has been set to October 17. This is subject to change based on weather conditions.
